ODOM UPDATE

For those of you who are as convinced as I am that the Lakers need to retain Lamar Odom, here’s another update on the situation. Along with Carlos Boozer the Miami Heat (FL has no state income tax) are reportedly trying to bag Odom as well. CLICK HERE for an article. Apparently, Odom and company want a five year, $45 million deal. The Lakers previously offered $36 million for four years. From my calculations each deal would grant Lamar $9 million a year. It seems Odom is weary about being able to sign another lucrative deal down the line when he is around the age of 34 or 35. Thats understandable, but you gotta think there are plenty of players out there who would pay the differential, $9 million dollars for an additional year, for a real opportunity to win championship rings.
The Lakers options to replace Lamar Odom with a contributor are bleak in this offseason free agency pool. Here’s an article that elaborates.
